9/15/04 - New Map & Unit
Posted by: Design-X
First off, I need to apologize for our lack of releases. I have started attending public school again and my stress level has shot up a good deal. Also, I have many other online ventures that require a lot of attention but I will be devoting a lot of my weekend to updating Design-X and working on new content. Anyway, here is a pic of the new map designed by Crass.uk:

Highland Waters is a huge map with many hills and area of plains to battle on. Also, there is a sea to do naval battling in. Metal is prevelant but I am unsure about wind. You can download it by clicking the link in the right column or by visiting our 6th section of maps.

The new unit was manufactured by The Registered One. It's a unique unit too, its entire model is made up of just one...yes, just one face. AoE anyone? =P Here is its build picture:

I bet your all wondering what the hell this thing is, right? Well, its the Core version of an Advanced Energy and Metal Storage facility. You can download it by going to our units section or by clicking the link in right column. Expect the Arm version to be released some time in the near future.

I should also mention that we have updated our eyecandy page with 3 new renders. The left and middle images were made by Lord Lihp, who has recently created his very own contribution to the TA: Community, TA: Cataclysm.
The image featured on the very right was produced by our newest member, The Registered One:

8/10/04 - New Unit and Map
Posted by: Design-X
Lord Lihp has released a new unit for you all to download. It's definately his best yet and you all should download it immediately:

The Arm Hammerhead is a level 2 ship equipped with a blue laser of death and a custom missile for close quarters combat. It's expensive, slow, heavily armored and perfect for dealing out a great deal of pain. Just click the above image to download or go to our units section.

TienPOOP has also released another map. Warring Islands, as it is called, is a large north VS south naval and island hopping map. Just click the below mini-map to download:

Also, we have yet again employed new staff. The Registered One will be doing some visual and unit work for us so expect lots of updates as far as eyecandy goes. =)
8/5/04 - Quadruple Map Release
Posted by: Design-X
We have a very large release today. A quadruple set of new maps made by both new and already employed staff members. First, I would like to welcome Colonal Sanders to the Design-X team. =) He will be working with us until he gets his own site up. Since he is a new staff member, I will mention his maps first and foremost:

Featured left, is a map called Chrystal Harbors. The name says it all. It's a smaller naval map that is also perfect for amphibious battles and can comfortably hold up to 5 players. Featured right is a map called A Tale of Two Cities. This is a smaller map as well so no more than 2-4 players should battle on this map. To download just click the map's image.

Our other map releases are made by TienPOOP and I:

Featured left is my map, dubbed Both Sides of the Mountain. It's ideal for those who love air and ground battles. It can comfortably accomodate up to 4 players but more can play on it if needed. Featured right is TienPOOP's first map here at Design-X. It has been named Lush Center and is ideal for huge land and air battles. Up to nine...yes...nine players can battle on this map. Just click the map's image to download. Enjoy!
7/24/04 - 2 New Units & New Map
Posted by: Design-X
Things are really starting to pick up here at Design-X. Lord Phoenix, NATO_chrisjm, Lord Lihp and Crass.uk are working hard to bring all you TA fans new material. This includes 2 new units:

Left: Core Global | Right: Arm Pulzaar

The Core Global is essentially the vehicular version of a Storm. It fires dual missiles and is perfect for taking out LLTs, tanks, and other units that don't have a very long range. Credit must go to NATO_chrisjm for the model and the texturing. Lord Phoenix provided the script, build picture, and all other neccessary files.

The Arm Pulzaar, created by Lord Lihp, is a counter for the Core Lihp. It fires a light laser and is perfect for early game raiding and just keeping your enemy under pressure. You can download both units be clicking the above links or by going to our units section.

Also, Crass.uk has once again released another awesome map. Unlike his other maps, this one is quite small:

Island Hop is good for naval and air battles. Amphibious landings are also a good idea. To download, just click the mini-map image or go to our sixth section of maps.
7/22/04 - New Material & Updates
Posted by: Design-X
Today we have a very cool map for you all to download. I had lots of fun testing it out. This is Stellar's first map ever and I must say that it is very impressive. Here is a preview:

This map, dubbed Vulcan, is quite small but is perfect for 2-4 players. Metal is hard to defend at first but a frontline is quickly established once the units start flowing out of the factories. A combination of ground, air, and sea power are essential for winning on this map. You must always be on your toes repairing defenses, queing up build lists, and leading your units into battle. You can get it by clicking this link or visiting our brand spanking new sixth section of maps!

(I should also mention, Design-X now hosts 51, yes that's right...51, kick ass maps! =D So if you have only been paying attention to our latest releases please check out all of our other great maps in sections 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5!)

Also, Lord Lihp has updated the Core Lihp. A list of changes was not provided but he mentioned a model update. We highly recommend downloading the updated UFO file in case more important changes were made to it. ;) You can get it by clicking here or by going to our units section. Now, with this model update comes new eyecandy. So head on over to our eyecandy section to check it out! =D

Lastly, Lord Phoenix has sent me a preview of a joint effot by him and NATO_chrisjm to release a new unit called The Global. Here is a preview:

Expect its release very soon. =) Comments and questions should be directed to our forums.
7/11/04 - 2 New Maps & Unit Update
Posted by: Design-X
After a brief period of dormancy, we have released 2 new maps. Both of them thanks to Crass.uk:

Desert Lakes [5.93 Mb] - Mars-6 [4.23 Mb]

Desert Lakes is a fun map, but only for 4 or more players. It's huge! =D I recommend using air early on in the game. Wind is prevelant on this map, but metal is generally scattered around so protecting your metal patches will be key to winning on this map.

Mars-6 is also fun, but only for 4 players or less. The metal is generally scattered but isn't hard to find. An steady income of energy is easy to attain, there is lots of wind and geothermal. So head on over to our fifth section of maps to get them.

Also, if you read reviews of our units at Unit Review Central, you would have noticed that our latest unit, the Arm Coachwhip, received a low score due to it's uber overpoweredness. =P Lord Phoenix has updated it for you all, so download the updated file here or head on over to our units page.
6/28/04 - New Map & Unit Update
Posted by: Design-X
Today we have a new map for you all to download. This time, it is by me...Design-X. =) It is a second version to my Island Fortress map:

It's called Island Forts v2 and is available at a very dial-up friendly size of 934 Kb. You can get it by going to our fifth section of maps.

We have also updated one of our units. The Arm Jitterbug now has a brand new build picture:

You can download the updated UFO file by clicking here or going to our units section. You can find a bigger render of the Jitterbug's new build picture in the eyecandy section.
6/24/04 - 2 New Units & New Eyecandy
Posted by: Design-X
It's been awhile since we have released a new unit, but things are starting to pick up again in our units section. We have 2 new units for you all to download, the Arm Coachwhip and the Core Lihp:

The Arm Coachwhip is a level 1 flak tank that will solve those early game bomber problems. Please thank Lord Phoenix for this kickass new unit. The Core Lihp is a level 1 light laser tank, great for rushing and raiding. You should thank our newest member for this release, Lord Lihp. You can get them both by going to our units page. =)

If you like the look of the Lihp, then you will love the renders that Lord Lihp has created for you all to enjoy. You can find one of them in the Pic of the Week section to your right. Here are the other two:

Also, if you are having trouble extracting stuff from our zip files please download the latest version of WinZIP. The latest version uses a different kind of compression so older versions and programs such as WinACE and WinRAR have trouble extracting the files.
6/18/04 - Unit Preview & 3 More Maps
Posted by: Design-X
As promised, we have new unit material to show you all. =) Here it is:

Lord Phoenix didn't say too much about it, but essentially it is a level 1 flak vehical for the ARM. You can post feedback on this preview in this topic in our forums.

On a sidenote, I have made all of Design-X's units available in one download. It's a custom exe and works great. You can download it by going to our units section.

We also have 3 new maps for you all to download, all courtesy Crass.uk:

Top Left: Lava Islands
Top Right: Red Planet Waters
Bottom: Reef Centre

You can get them all by going to our fifth section of maps.

6/12/04 - Maps, New Staff, & Feedback
Posted by: Design-X

Crass.uk has yet again turned out some brand new maps for you all to download. Here are their mini-map pics:

Top Left: Dangerous Waters (2.89 Mb)
Top Right: Great Lava Divide 2 (7.92 Mb)
Bottom: Island Stretch (882 Kb)

You can get them from our fifth section of maps.

There is other news as well. We have 2 new staff members, please welcome Viperhawk and Stealth870. Viperhawk will be doing unit making for us while Stealth is elite at creating build pictures. So expect some updates in the units section of our site very soon. =)

Also, there is now a feedback section to our site. There you can send all of your comments, questions, and suggestions to us. This applies to both the site itself and our content. You can also give us feedback in our forums.

Last, but most certainly not least. If you look just under our main header, you will see a link that says 'Donate'. It will send money to our host, TA Universe and help keep this site up.
6/9/04 - 3 New Maps
Posted by: Design-X
Today we have a triple release for you, 3 new maps from Crass.uk:

Top Left: 666th | Top Right: Area-52 | Bottom: Cliff Fortress

Visit our fourth and fifth section of maps to download them. =)

We have also added several new additions to the side-bars. A lastest unit and latest map section has been added and the affiliates section has been moved under the main navigation.
6/7/04 - New Layout
Posted by: Design-X
Design-X has returned and we now have a new layout that is stable, looks good, loads faster, and is much easier to view by those with both smaller and higher resolutions. If you have an insanely high res then this layout will look weird and small, but don't fret because I am making an alternative to this one. =)

Our new look is not all that we have to tell you about. We now have a new staff member, Arcane Falcon. He's going to be doing some texture/skinning work for us. So expect some eyecandy to be released in the coming weeks.

Also, I have added several new sections. You can now find all the mods we host in one location. If you look at the navigation there is a link to it labeled, mods. I have also added an affiliates section. This explains in depth who we affiliate with and tells you how you can become an affiliate of Design-X.

Last, but most certainly not least, we have a request for all of our fans. Recently, we have noticed some sites leeching our content without asking for permission and even taking credit themselves for our work. So if you like our downloads and find someone leeching our content, contact us. Thanks in advance to anyone who comes forward with info. If you wish to mirror our content, please affiliate with us instead of stealing our stuff. ;)

5/25/04 - TA: Mechwars
Posted by: Design-X

The Total Annihilation Mechwars mod is now available here at Design-X. MechWarrior has given us permission to make it available for download here. The entire mod is 7.06 Mb, which means you won't need a download manager to get it. Our mods section is not currently up, but you can get the entire mod by clicking here. You can also download the 1.002 patch by clicking here.

5/20/04 - The Dojo Unit Pack v1.0 & Bandwidth Issues
Posted by: Design-X

Today we have released something that I know all of you veteran TA players will enjoy and all you nOOb's will love! Design-X is proud to now host and bring you The Dojo Unit Pack v1.0. Thanks must go to EnJoy for lettng us host it. This pack comes with 61 units along with all the other neccessary files. I've made a nice little EXE file so you don't have to manually extract everything. =) The entire pack weighs in at a very dial-up friendly size of just 5.45 Mb. You can get it by going to our units section or by clicking here.

Also, we have been having a problem with running out of bandwidth...as some of you may have noticed. =P The nice people over at TA Universe have been kind enough to increase it to 50 gigs a month, so please be sure to donate to them if you like and enjoy our content.

Lastly, I have come up with a brand new design idea for Design-X. Yes, that's right, another one. =P You can view all versions I have made by clicking on the links below. Please post all of your comments, questions, and suggestions in our forum:

Gray - Blue - Orange

5/4/04 - TA Universe and Design-X
Posted by: Design-X

We here at Design-X have decided to no longer be hosted by Planet Annihilation. As long as we are hosted by TA Universe, you guys won't have to go through Fileplanet to get our downloads. We have brand new forums for you all to post in as well.

Due to my account being locked at Planet Annihilation, I cannot move some of the TA: Ultimate War files. These files include the add-on map packs and the feature file you need if you use the extra maps. I will have OrconeLite re-upload them ASAP.

4/20/04 - We're Back!
Posted by: Design-X

Design-X is back and we have some brand new downloads for you guys to grab. First off, we have this new shiny design, pretty sweet eh? Second, Crass.uk has made 5 new maps for you all to download and enjoy. Visit our fourth section of maps to get them. There are more on the way as well:

(The fifth map's mini-map is not displayed because I ran into a problem extracting it.)

Last but not least, TA Ultimate War. This is a new mod for Total Annihilation. You can find all of the details on it here:

(Click for a larger view.)

Also, Lord Phoenix is currently working on some new units so please check back frequently.

Design-X is currently looking to hire new staff, so if you feel you can contribute to the team, send me an e-mail and I will get back with you shortly. As you can see, things aren't quite...finished yet so please be patient while I get everything worked out. You can find all the usual stuff up and running though, such as the units, maps, utilities, and eyecandy pages.
